How You Can Turn Trauma Into Power

Big topic today.

(And a few cuss words, so be warned…)

I read an email from Tonya W. who said:

“I’ve been following you for a while now, and your messages & content have always been super real & resonated with me on a deep level. But the thought of actually emailing you never crossed my mind.

I suppose I have an inferiority issue (he’s so busy & well-known he’ll never reply), but I decided to say fuck it today.

Emails from you have literally been exactly what I’ve been dealing with.

My deadly 3:

1) Opioid addiction

2) Abuse

3) Comparison & not good enough.

I just decided to surrender & take the synchronicity & run with it!”

Tonya goes on to ask a really powerful question:

“Is it possible to help others while YOU, yourself are still healing? I’d love to coach. Help others with addiction & empowerment. I’ve had coaches, but it was difficult when none could ‘relate’ or sometimes even empathize with what I’ve been through. I guess really; I’d just love to hear your thoughts. I really value your opinion!”

So, first things first, Tonya… this is really me… I really read your email, and this is NOT an April Fool’s joke.

This email is for you.

I should also share that Tonya mentioned she is clean and sober and our of a toxic relationship now for five years.

And second – congrats! Sobriety is the #1 most important thing.

Keep working your program and keep doing all the things that got you here, still one day at a time.

I’m so happy you’re sober Tonya.

And, let’s dive into your question.

What I love about this question is that it is full of integrity.

The idea that I must be healed before I heal others is true.

However, we must define “healed.”

My hunch is that what you meant was…

“Must I be FULLY healed before I can help others…? Is there a perfect amount of healing where I will be “enough” to actually coach?”

The answer is… no.

I would suggest banning the thoughts of “fully,” “totally” and “completely” from your mind.

This thinking seems like it’s a high standard, but it’s actually perfectionism in disguise.

I think it’s a very righteous thing that you want to do a great job for your future clients and make sure that you do right by them.

However, the arrival point you are asking about does not exist.

When you are one day sober, you have one day more than the addict who is still suffering. Part of the 12 Step Program is to help others and be of service.

And, I would much rather you extend a helping hand to someone who needs it, who isn’t sober yet, but needs that hope, than to wait.

You see, as you make progress, think of yourself on a continuum. The people “ahead” of you are your mentors, and the people “behind” you are your clients.

What I mean is this…

You always have a chance to serve.

There is always an opportunity to help others.

Don’t wait until you feel “enough” because we never quite get there.

In fact, when you serve others, that is how you expedite your own healing.

One of the most amazing things about doing what I do is that I get to learn from my clients, I get to grow.

When you step into serving others in the way that you are asking about… your work, your business is also your therapy.

I think it’s amazing that you’ve sought out mentors Tonya.

No one does it alone.

When you mentioned that you didn’t feel like you could relate to certain coaches, that’s okay.

There are plenty of teachers and plenty of clients.

There is more than enough to go around.

You are getting clearer and clearer on the values you have as a client, and this is helping you get clear on the values you will have as a coach.

The trauma that you’ve been through is a big deal.

And, what’s an even bigger deal and super powerful is that you are choosing to turn that trauma into power, that hurt into service and you have a strong desire to serve others.

What’s even more powerful is that the trauma that you’ve been through has given you empathy and a certain understanding about what it feels like to go through what you went through.

This makes you especially qualified to serve others who have been through what you’ve been through.

Your experience, your strength, your resilience and your results are enough to help someone else right now.

Don’t wait. People are in pain. People need your help.

And it’s not always obvious.

Many times the people who are in the most pain suffer quietly and never share what’s going on on the inside.

I recently had a colleague of mine take her life. It shook our community.

You never know what people are going through, even someone who you think has it all together.

Your desire to be a coach is rooted in the desire to serve others.

Follow that desire and keep your eyes peeled for who God sends you each day to serve.

When you focus on serving others, you will have more than enough confidence to help them.

And… keep your education going. Invest in yourself.

The best coaches have a coach. The best coaches have a mentor.

Keep sober. Keep doing the work. Keep serving others.

Education is important.

But you don’t need any more education to start making your difference right now.

So, start now. And keep growing.

The world needs you, Tonya.

I’m so proud of you.

Five Super Simple Steps To Turn Failure Into Success

Chances are… when it comes to your dreams, you’re most likely getting in your own way. The right mindset changes everything.

Everything…

Cuz’ when you have the right success mindset – that means your behaviors line up with your goals.

But, even high performers get their mindset messed up.

Why is this a bad thing?

Your life doesn’t flow. Dreams get put on hold. Doors close. Opportunity stops knocking. And – worst of all…

The limitations of your past become the possibilities for your future.

Not good.

So, if you want to end financial fear, if you want to quit the soul sucking job… or grow your business… you be in a soulmate relationship…

Get your` mind right.

Here’s five awesomely simple ays to turn failure into success:

1. Get Curious

Old thought: I can’t do this because…

New thought: I wonder what it takes to create…?

2. Start Small

Old thought: I have to do this all at once and don’t know where to start…

New thought: I can do this one small step at at time…

3. Be Specific

Old thought: I am going to love my body… (vague)

New thought: I am going to work out 5x a week, cut refined carbs and drink 1/2 an oz. of water per pound of body weight (specific)

4. Focus On Outcome

Old thought: I always self-sabotage because…. (discussing only the problem)

New thought: For this project to be done, it would look like… (with specific outcomes)

5. Dedicate Yourself to Life Time Mastery

Old thought: I’ve been doing this social media thing for a couple weeks and it’s not working. I’m not reaching enough people.

New thought: I’m going to master social media, always learn and it’s an honor to reach the people that I do now.

My advice to you is this:

Trade your limiting beliefs for curiosity…Turn major projects into micro steps…Turn unclear behaviours into clear action items…Turn vague visions into clear outcomes…Turn dabbling into a dedication to mastery…

When you do this – anything is possible.

Your purpose is counting on you to do this.

And when you apply what I’ve taught you here… you turn any failure into success.

And that’s awesome.

And you’re awesome.

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

How to cut through confusion and embrace clarity

Are you confused about what next step to take?

That is AWESOME. Here’s why.

Confusion is a symptom of three things:

1. The fear of trusting yourself

2. The lack of clarity about the road ahead.

3. New momentum in your life that was self-initiated.

If you’re not moving forward, you are in your comfort zone and won’t be confused.

So, if your confused, what does this mean?

It means YOU have decided to change your life (#3 above), and there is new forward momentum!

HOWEVER, moving forward means you are looking ahead into an unknown cloud of foggy uncertainty.

Because none of us know what’s next.

And, that would be FINE, but you probably don’t have a long history of trusting yourself.

HUH?

Here’s the thing.

Your intuition has always been there. Always.

It’s just that the fear voice has been louder. And you’ve followed that fear voice before.

When you follow that fear voice, not your intuition… well… things just don’t work out.

So, you probably have a history of things not working out.

And thus, you may be assuming that if you try something *again*, that it won’t work out.

You’d be right… if you followed your fear voice.

But, that’s not what you’re going to do this time, is it?

This time… you are going to follow your still, small… intuitive voice.

How?

Get still. Get very still. And listen until you hear it. Kundalini Yoga helps me hear my intuition. So does meditation. And… weirdly… getting a massage.

Anything you can do to relax that monkey mind of yours for a little while can help that intuitive voice speak through you.

You’ll feel it. In your body. It will feel “right.”

It’ll also be scary. But it will also be *correct*.

Now, when you follow that voice… things won’t go according to plan. Which is awesome.

Remember your mantra… Always for me… never to me.

Follow your intuitive voice this time. And stick with it 2x longer than you normally would.

Don’t give up. Surround yourself with positive people who can cheer you on.

Take a risk. Follow your intuition.

And pretty soon, that confusion will inevitably turn to rock solid clarity.

But, you’ve got to earn clarity with courageous, imperfect action.

Confusion precedes clarity.

The secret sauce that turns confusion into clarity is persistence and never-ending courageous imperfect action in the direction of your intuitive voice.

Trust yourself.

This time, things will work out greater than you could ever imagine.

Promise.

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

Is a positive intention behind your actions?

This is a radical idea… but let’s try it out for a moment and see how it goes…

What if NOTHING is going wrong?

Have you considered that the pain of your life is the motivating factor that is pushing you to grow and evolve?

The question that your pain is asking you is a simple, yet profound question…

Will you align with your Soul, or will you turn away?

What does that mean, though?

“Align with you Soul…”

Sounds good, but WTF does it MEAN?

Here are five beliefs that are common when you aren’t lined up with your Soul:

1. I am powerless to change.

2. My happiness is dependent upon what other people do or think of me.

3. Only when I am perfect, will I be enough.

4. I am not supported.

5. There is no purpose to or for my life.

When you act out of these beliefs, life is stressful, life appears tough, and you stop growing. When you have these beliefs, it means that you are caught in the web of your Survival Patterns™ (those pesky irrational fears that keep you stuck) and that your past is running your future.

When you are feeling negative feelings, like guilt, shame, etc. – you are not living in the moment… you are living in the past.

The aim must be to LOVE these emotions and decide that these emotions are not who you are…. just emotions that are passing through you, seeking healing.

One of the best and fastest ways to heal… is to seek out the positive intent of every situation.

This is a mind-bender… and something that takes practice.

However, the more that you practice this idea, the better you will feel and life will begin to come into balance and make sense. Seek the positive intent of every situation. ‘

Every person does what they do, because they believe, on a certain level, that there is a positive intention behind their action.

Many times, that so-called positive intention is unconscious.

They are positively intending to survive, and there may be unconscious Survival Patterns™ that are running the show.

It’s a positive intention to survive.

Even if the situation or someone else’s behavior harmed you, the way to get free is to forgive, let go and seek the positive intent.

What’s the positive intention of someone who hurt me?

This is a deep question.

And – here’s the answer… the positive intention of someone who hurt you was this…

They were trying to find some way… anyway…. to free themselves from the pain they were in.

And, they did it in a way that was not wise and caused you pain.

This doesn’t make it right. BUT – if we can see that they are trapped in a nightmare of unconscious pain, then they turn from a demon into a scared/wounded child who is seeking solace from their demons.

Seeking the positive intention does not justify what happened to us, but it helps us find empathy… the empathy to know that no matter what someone did “to us” – that they were also doing the same thing, or worse, to themselves… and most likely… someone did the same thing, or worse, to them.

In this way, we can begin to be open to the idea… the nothing and no one is “wrong.”

They are just seeking to feel better because they don’t have the tools or the awareness to act otherwise.

This means… they are growing… and so are you. When you judge something as “wrong”, you miss the lesson because you are in blame of the other.

This doesn’t mean you should accept injustice. However, if you ever want to truly heal… and put an end to what was done to you… that can only happen from a place of love.

If you hate the people that hurt you, that hate you, you join the darkness with them.

We must begin to see the pain behind the harmful acts of others. Nothing is wrong; we are growing.

They are in pain… and seeking relief in any way they can. It’s not their “fault, ” and it’s not your “fault.”

Soul Growth is a big deal… and can be painful. But it is NOT growing the creates the most pain.

Today, see the positive intent of all that seems “wrong” in your life…, and you will become open to a deeper and more empathetic view of yourself and all those that you know.

Here are five beliefs to take on today… that will help you align with this perspective and thus, your Soul:

1. I am a powerful being who can change anything and at any time.

2. My happiness is dependent upon the meaning I give the events of my life.

3. I am enough right now. I am perfectly imperfect, right now.

4. I am supported.

5. There is a beautiful and unique purpose to my life.

Focus on growth… on forgiveness and on empathy.

You’ll see the world with new eyes.

Nothing is wrong; all has been sent for your growth.

Today, dig deep roots… and grow through it.

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

Are you just surviving, not thriving?

Do you know what keeps you blocked from the success, personal freedom and life of abundance you want?

Not just fear… Not just “you”… Not just time… Not just money…

Let’s be more specific, shall we?

There’s just one thing that’s actually blocking you:

Survival Patterns™

Or… you can call ’em SP’s for short. SP’s keep you stuck.

SP’s like… distraction, procrastination, perfectionism…

and even talking about your SP’s more than you should…

even the awareness that you have SP’s can become an SP…

because then you are focused just on how many SP’s you have.

When you know you have an SP.. your job is to begin the process of healing it.

You don’t break your arm… and then just talk about how broken it is… and how you broke it… over and over again.

You get your butt to the doctor’s office, and you get a CAST. Your SP’s need a CAST called… your life’s purpose.

When you know your purpose, your why… everything starts to change… your drive to overcome and heal your SP’s kicks in.

You take all that self-help knowledge… all that “information” and it drops down into practical application… into real life.

In fact… you might “think” you know something, but you don’t really know it until… you’re DOING IT.

Knowledge without action is the same thing as not having the knowledge in the first place.

Knowledge is simply potential energy… it’s not until your activate your knowledge does it become kinetic or ALIVE.

So, if you are reading the books… GOOD.

f you are doing your meditation… GOOD.

If you are working on yourself… GOOD.

But let’s take an honest look at where you are in your life right now.

If you’re procrastinating, or in perfectionism, or playing small, or distracted all the time and not following through…

Your Survival Patterns™ are winning.

And here’s the thing… Survival Patterns™ create other survival things…

Survival jobs… Survival relationships… Survival romance… Survival income… Survival food habits…

Meaning… your job, relationships, income, and food habits are “just enough” for you to “survive”.

But, they are not at the standard that you see yourself.

When you discover your purpose and bring it to life… you upgrade from a survival job… to a fulfilling and abundant vocation.

When you discover your purpose… you upgrade from a survival relationships to a Soul Tribe of people who are supporting you.

When you discover your purpose… you upgrade from survival romance (aka roommates) to true love and passion.

When you discover your purpose… you upgrade from just survival income… to an abundant income that allows you to provide security to those that you love + the time/money freedom to travel and create unforgettable experiences.

When you discover your purpose…. your food habits are not just there to survive.

You raise your standards from sugar/wine and chocolate (or caramel popcorn) to food that fuels your purpose and gives you more energy.

To survive in this world is a miracle.

To thrive in your purpose in this lifetime is something you must earn.

Vision boards alone won’t do it.

To thrive in your purpose… you need to increase the amount of intentional pressure you feel.

Now… stress and pressure are two different things.

When you’re just surviving, you feel stress because at any moment you may not be surviving.

But, when you apply true intentional pressure in your life, that is when you grow and demand more from yourself.

The pressure to show up in bigger and bigger ways.

The pressure to forgive the unforgivable.

The pressure to show up and add value to the world.

These are good things.

Diamonds are forged under intentional pressure… the body gets sick under chronic stress.

If you’re going to be stressed by the day to day of survival anyways… you might as well focus on the tasks that create pressure and a similar sensation as stress.

It takes just as much energy to be stressed by thinking about how you will pay for food next week and how you will become more and live your purpose.

You might as well use your stress wisely and transform it into pressure that turns you from coal (survival) into a thriving diamond of purpose.

Are you ready to trade your surival life for an abundant life of purpose?

How will you get started living your purpose and bringing it to life?

Do you want to put your purpose and true abundance on the fast track?

What if you can… find the time… reschedule… make this and yourself a priority?

You… your purpose and your loved ones are worth it.

Are you ready to become a diamond?

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

How To Create Financial Certainty For Your Loved Ones

Will you do anything for the people you love? Do you want to make sure they are provided for? Taken care of?

Your children. Your parents. Your peeps.

Recently I read a note from Stephanie who said:

“I feel obligated to maintain a steady income to support my kids. I tell myself that when they are out of the house, then I can figure out what I want for myself.”

Stephanie, I want to talk to you today.

And… anyone else who feels like their purpose isn’t quite here yet.

Let me get this out upfront:

The BEST way to take care of your Loved ones is to live your life as an EXAMPLE of what’s possible.

Your only true obligation in this life is to discover your purpose and live it each day.

When you consider what action to take, what next step to make… and what the priorities of your life are…

It’s important to pay attention to the questions you are asking yourself.

Perhaps one of the greatest questions you can ask yourself when it comes to taking care of your loved ones is this…

“How can I best set an example of what’s possible?”

You see, your loved ones watch what you DO, far greater than what you say.

Your children model your behavior, not your words.

So, this means to take the best care of your loved ones; you’ve got to take the best care of yourself.

Do you want your children to discover and live their purpose?

Then discover and live yours.

Do you want your loved ones to be able to have financial security for the future?

Then tap into the abundance that comes when you bring your purpose to life.

Do you want to take great care of your father/mother and help them retire and have a great quality of life?

Then bring your purpose to life.

Discovering my purpose is what allowed me to have enough funds to pay for rehab for my mother, which was a life-saving moment.

Discovering my purpose is what allowed us to buy a house for loved ones when their home was condemned due to mold.

If you are waiting until they “grow up,” “move out” or for “one day when” you think things will get better… you are not taking the best care of your loved ones.

You are not setting an example of living your best life.

In order to take the best care of your loved ones, you must grow, you must stretch… you must discover your life’s purpose and then dedicate yourself to bringing it to life.

By bringing your purpose to life, you set the example for your children or your parents.

By finding your purpose, you open up the abundance that you know is meant for you, but seems to be alluding you.

By discovering your purpose, you show your loved ones you mean business.

Do not delay your dreams.

Do not set an example of living on the “horizon” for “one day.” They are watching you and they are taking their ques from you.

Whether you know it or not… you are a leader and they are watching your every move.

Instead of saving for a rainy day, invest in a sunny future. Invest in yourself.

Invest in your purpose.

Make discovering your purpose your #1 intention.

Let no excuse get in the way.

Let no limiting belief stop you.

Do whatever you need to do to overcome the fear/trauma/hurt and worry from your past…. and make today and every day forward a day where you are dedicated to brining your purpose to life.

Do not allow any past hurt/trauma/pain or fear stop you. Instead, consider that the trauma of your past is a prerequisite for your purpose.

You were being prepared for THIS.

When you bring your purpose to life…

That’s when abundance comes.

That’s when you have true personal freedom.

That’s when you create true security for your loved ones.

That’s when you set an example for everyone you love about what’ possible.

Within you is power, greatness and the ability to be a role model of what living your purpose looks like.

Have you been focusing on what’s most important… or just being distracted by what’s in front of you?

Make if your intention to make what’s in front of you most important – that is discovering your purpose and bringing it to life.

The only difference between someone who has true freedom, who has work and a career they love, who experiences a truly abundant life… who takes care of their loved ones and gives them the ultimate security…

And someone who is distracted, overwhelmed, not feeling free, waiting until “later” and always worried if they will be able to take care of their loved ones is just one thing…

Those who experience true freedom, abundance and the security to take care of the people that they love know their life’s purpose and are living it each day.

If you’ve tried a lot of different things and it hasn’t worked out, or if you thought you knew what your purpose was and lost it… or if you aren’t sure you have a purpose… or if you know what your purpose, but it’s in process and not quite here yet… that’s okay.

If you really love your peeps, then get about the business of bringing your purpose to life.

Don’t hide behind your loved ones and use them as a reason why you can’t risk/grow and become more.

You owe it to them and to yourself to take the leap and jump into the life that’s waiting for you.

It’s time to remove the hidden blocks keeping you stuck, accelerate your results and bring your purpose to life.

Not sometime in the future… but right… NOW.

You’ve got this. And I’ll be right there with you.

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

How To Stop Wishing For Financial Abundance And Actually Have It

I wanted to layout what I believe is the fastest pathway to creating financial abundance in your life.

It might surprise you… and it might not.

Heres’ the bottom line: you’ve got to find the fastest path to money.

Yes, making a difference is important.

Finding your passion is important.

Taking care of your loved ones is important.

And, no… money is not the most important thing.

Let’s remember what the great Zig Ziglar said about money…

“Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it’ scale.”

You see, money is the vehicle that allows you to make a difference, to live your passion, to take care of those that you love.

Think about it. If we keep riffing on the money/oxygen idea… when you’re in an airplane… what is the instruction in case of an emergency?

Put the oxygen mask on YOURSELF first.

THEN help a child and/or others.

Why is this?

Because if you don’t take care of YOU first, then you won’t be able to help others… and in fact… you’ll endanger yourself, and the crew will have to risk valuable time and energy getting the mask on you when they could be doing other things.

So, just as we’ve been told countless times on airplanes when it comes to oxygen, we’ve got to take care of ourselves first, and the same idea is true with money.

Do you love oxygen more than God? Or your loved ones? Or your purpose?

No.

But without oxygen, none of that stuff can happen.

The same thing is true with money. Money is the oxygen of your purpose, your passion, and your highest ideals.

If you have a passion for helping those in need, it’s wise to start with yourself. I get it; we are a generation about passion, purpose and living higher ideals. But, without money, those dreams will never come true.

So, as much as we like to hide behind the “love/light/purpose/passion” conversation… let’s get right down to you… you need money.

This doesn’t make you bad, evil, greedy or any of that… it makes you a human being on planet earth who must play by earthly rules.

So… here are the three steps to cash, now:

1. Ditch perfection and figure out your M.V.P.

M.V.P. if your Minimum Viable Product. This is the smallest thing you can create to add the most value. In the coaching business, your MVP is typically a one-on-one coaching package.

The key with the MVP is to let it be messy, let it be imperfect, let it not have all the bells and whistles.

Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn, says this about the MVP mindset:

“If you’re not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.”

2. Shift your mindset to service over passion.

Instead of asking what your passion is, train yourself to help others.

Focus on it. Pay attention to the common threads that emerge.

Where you find yourself getting lost in time flying by.

As you focus on helping others instead of “your” passion, “your” social media, “your” bills, “your” following, etc… abundance will open up.

Why? Because you will see an infinite abundance of opportunities to serve.

3. Don’t wait for clarity, start now to find clarity.

To be successful longterm, you need two things: courage and clarity, And – courage comes first. Then clarity. Ideas don’t start out with perfect clarity. You never know as much as you want before you get started.

Instead of needing perfect clarity or a perfect plan before you start… simply start now, messy, imperfect and embarrassed with your MVP.

That’s the basic process: create an MVP, focus on how you can serve and start now.

This is the fastest path to cash.

And, the sooner you start, the better.

My greatest wish for you is that you implement what I’ve shared here.

How can you get started today with these three steps so that you can elevate yourself and generate the money you need to make a difference, live your purpose, help others and finally take care of your family?

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

Feel like you are missing out? Find your purpose!

It’s normal in the course of a human life to try for a goal and fall short.

It could be a business goal; it could be a romantic goal, a wellness/health goal, a family goal or a financial goal.

One of the greatest tensions in human existence is the tension between the life we desire and our current circumstances.

This life, after all, is a process of becoming.

From the moment of our conception, we are in the process of becoming.

First, we become an infant, then a child, a teenager and then an adult.

As we age, we become (hopefully) wise, and as we approach death, we are in the process of becoming Spirit again.

Birth, life, death and rebirth… this is the cycle.

The aim of life is to be happy right where you are.

Now, what I just wrote was a simple sentence… but let me say it again because it’s important…

The aim of life is to be happy right where you are.

Happy in birth, happy in life and happy in death. Happy in rebirth.

And while our mortal body dies once in a lifetime, our dreams can die daily.

Our hopes can die daily. Our goals can die daily. Our vision for a better future can die daily.

The path of success is to learn to navigate the deaths of meaningful things in our lives with Grace and a solid mindset.

The teachings of the Buddha remind us that the root of suffering is attachment.

This isn’t to say that you cannot or should not Love.

This isn’t to say that you should not form relationships.

Or get your hopes up.

However, the aim of life is to increase our flexibility.

In the discipline of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), it’s known that the person who is the most flexible will emerge successful in the long run. In NLP, there are things called “Pre-suppositions” which are assumptions that the discipline makes about the nature of life.

One such pre-supposition is that of flexibility, which is as follows:

“The person with the most flexibility will have more choices and therefore have the most influence in any system. A choice is better than no choice, and more choices are certainly better than less choices. Similarly, if what you are doing is not working, do something else. This highlights the need to change one’s behavior and do something else, again and again, if need be, until the desired outcome is achieved. In other words, one must be able to change readily to meet new circumstances.”

So, if you have set a goal and it has not come into being yet, consider that you must become more flexible in your approach.

Consider that perhaps your mindset is too rigid, and you are too attached to a certain outcome, that, if released, would clear a path to a greater and greater outcome.

When your body is flexible, you are able to move with more Grace and ease.

When your mind is flexible, you are able to achieve happiness, fulfillment, and success with greater ease.

It’s so easy to be attached to past hurtful or disappointing outcomes and assume that your future will be the same as the past.

Yet – the future will only be the same as the past if we bring the past into the future.

How do you ensure that you do not bring your past into your future?

You make peace with it in the present moment.

And the fastest way to do that is to discover your life’s purpose.

When you know your life’s purpose and bring it to life, everything changes.

The only difference between someone who is overwhelmed, stuck, frustrated with a lack of results, not experiencing abundance or fulfilling work/career and someone who has an abundant life, meaningful relationships, fulfilling work and is able to provice security for their loved ones…

Is that the person who is living an abundant life has discovered their life’s purpose and are living it each day.

When you discover your life’s purpose, everything changes.

Abundance comes…

Fulfilling work comes..

Security for your loved ones comes…

You know your priorities and what to focus on…

The aim is to be flexible in your approach and dedicate yourself to discovering your life’s purpose and then living it each day.

Remember – be flexible in your approach.

Be mindful of your past limiting beliefs that do not belong in your future.

And enjoy the process of birth, life, death, and rebirth – each phase of existence has a gift.

And, when you know your purpose, you can enjoy the ride in true abundance.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

Six Steps To Finally Achieve Prosperity

Do you want to be more prosperous?

Financially? Spiritually? Romantically? Emotionally?

I got an email the other day from Kerry in Maryland;

I had asked her a question which was:

What one thing could I improve that would make you happier within the next 30 days?

Kerry said:

Help the people who struggle with $ to achieve prosperity.

Kerry, I’ve heard you and am here to help today.

If you want to have more money in, to travel, to take care of your family, to live an abundant life – there are six steps you can take to get there.

When you experience lack in your life, there’s a deep seeded sense that there is “something more” for you to be, do, have or achieve.

Perhaps you see others who have abundance, and you feel that it’s impossible for you.

Or, easy for them. Or, maybe you think that those who are living an abundant life are in on some secret that you don’t know about.

Or, perhaps you think that God favors others more than you.

You’ll find out today that that’s not the case.

Abundance is your birthright.

Abundance is the nature of the whole Universe.

No matter what they say on the news, no matter what other people say – there is more than enough to go around.

You see, most of us have bought into the collective story of lack, fear and the idea that something or someone “out there” is going to come save us. And, we’ve turned “God” or “Source” or “The Universe” or “The Divine” into some kind of vending machine that is supposed to give us what we want as soon as we want it.

Oh, and we tend to expect that the process of living our dream life will be:

– Easy. – Have a perfect plan figured out ahead of time.

– Require no real hard work.

– That it should be as easy to do it as it is to talk about doing it.

– Based on how much green juice we drink, quinoa we eat or meditation we do.

– Will be the “path of least” resistance. – Will happen immediately.

– Won’t require us to grow or face our deepest fears.

– A path that everyone in our life agrees with and encourages us to keep going.

– Won’t upset anyone.

– And we will never be rejected.

This is a fairytale.

Call it the Manifestation Fairytale.

Or the gross misinterpretation of the Law of Attraction.

You could also call it something else – entitlement.

The Law of Attraction is real. But so is the Law of Courage, the Law of Hard Work, the Law of Persistence, the Law of Humilty and the Law of Becoming A Person of Value.

The only problem you really have is the expectation that you shouldn’t have any problems.

A vision board is important – but it’s not enough.

Meditation is important – but it’s not enough.

Yoga is important – but it’s not enough.

Reading self-help material is important – but it’s not enough.

Here’s the truth about abundance:

It’s your birthright, but you must earn it.

The easy path, in the end, is the hard path.

So, we need to see abundance with new assumptions about who we must be and what we must do to earn it.

We must change our expectations of ourselves and how we are showing up.

We need a new game plan.

When you are abundant, you can serve others, take care of people that you love, travel, be free and live the life that you dream about.

This is a big deal. No small thing.

That’s why I am sharing my Six Steps to Achieve Prosperity with you today.

Step 1 – Get Your Nervous System on Board (Burn The Boats)

Here’s the deal. We are not built to follow through.

The human brain is great at two things:

1. Coming up with big ideas.

2. Responding to in the moment threats.

Somewhere in between our big ideas and the day-to-day distractions, interruptions and “threats” our good intentions get lost.

Your vision board gets stuffed away in the closet.

Your self-help bookshelf becomes the shelf of wishful thinking.

Your partner starts to question all those courses you bought.

You retract into the expectations of your peer group.

Then you might blame Mercury in retrograde for why it didn’t happen.

The real truth is, you didn’t make a real decision.

You hoped. You wished. You may have even prayed.

But, you didn’t engage your nervous system.

Making a decision that makes your body go “OH SH*T” is what I’m talking about.

It needs to be a threat NOT to follow through on your good intentions.

Think about times in your life when you HAD to follow through whether you wanted to or not.

Your butt was on the line. You had to do it.

You’ve got to design a decision like this into your life.

The first time I ever invested in a big seminar or retreat, my whole nervous system was put on alert.

My nervous system said:

Mastin – you need to show the hell up. You need to move.

My clients tell me regularly that investing with us keeps them motivated and accountable to their good intentions.

It keeps the main thing, the main thing.

When you engage your nervous system, you access a level of creativity, resourcefulness and drive that you didn’t know you had.

In short: you’ve got to burn the boats.

Step 2 – Get A Mentor Who Knows The Road Ahead

Not all mentors are created equally.

Please never hire me to teach you how to do brain surgery. I’m not your guy.

You want to invest in and hire a mentor that has BEEN where you want to go.

They know the map. They know the terrain.

(BTW – the map NEVER matches the terrain).

So, you don’t want just a mapmaker.

You want someone who has been there/done that.

Mentors do not do the work for you.

They guide you. Give you tools. Help illuminate blind spots. Challenge you. Hold you accountable to who your dreams require you to become.

Finding a mentor is vital.

Don’t go cheap on this.

Mentorship is not a commodity or something to under value.

Finding and investing in the right Mentor is a game changer.

You might be thinking, “But what if I don’t have enough money to invest in a Mentor?”

That’s the exact thought that is stopping you.

I just told you that you are in an abundant universe.

That thought must change to a question, “How can I create the resources to invest in a Mentor?”

And, if you have no idea… here’s a good exercise.

It’s a little violent… it’s a little shocking… but it’s effective. And it works 100% of the time.

OK? READY?

Think of the person in your life that you love most (other than yourself, lol).

Now, if there were a gun to this person’s head and you had to find a way to come up with the money or resources, what would you do?

If you didn’t – then this person would die.

Make this a real consideration and scenario for a moment. Go there.

What ideas are coming to mind?

I told you… that’s an intense image… but… your brain will all of a sudden come with SO many ways to make it happen that it never thought of before.

You see, it’s not a lack of resources, it’s a lack of resourcefulness.

Get curious. Get hungry. Take action.

You have no idea how capable you really are.

Step 3 – Become The Person It Takes To Create Abundance

Who you’ve been showing up as has to change. It’s time to raise your expectations of yourself.

It’s time to ask:

Who must I become to create real abundance? How much I act? What must I believe? What limiting beliefs must I let go of?

Perhaps the most important part of becoming the person it takes to create real abundance is this:

To declare that, no matter what you’ve been through, you are not powerless over your circumstances.

You are not a victim. You are stronger than you’ve allowed yourself to be.

Yes, painful things have happened in the past.

There is healing that must be done.

But, if you are blaming your circumstances, your family, someone who hurt you, the government, the economy or anything else for why you aren’t where you want to be, you are shutting off abundance in your life.

Abundance is not created by what you’ve been through, but rather how you choose to respond to what you’ve been through.

People who live an abundant life know how to find the diamond in the pain, the rainbow in the storm, the lesson and power in the trauma.

Abundant people know that they must take their power back and that no excuse is valid.

Excuses are simply limitations of the survival mind.

But, every excuse has a workaround. Every limit has a way to overcome it.

The buck starts and stops with you. It’s time to mature the wounded parts of you that like to blame everything and everyone else.

Trade victim thinking for accountability.

Trade declarations of lack into statements of curiosity.

Take meaningful action to heal your wounds.

When you do this, you become an abundant person.

And, things start to really change – and fast.

And, here’s the deeper truth (it might hurt, but it needs to be said):

If you don’t heal, if you don’t take your power back, if you don’t pick up your staff and declare that the buck stops with you…

The people who hurt you, the people who doubted you, the people who said it couldn’t be done:

THEY WIN.

Screw that!

Take your power back – prove them wrong.

Success is sexy. And success is the best revenge.

Step 4 – Lower Your Expectations And Finally Embody Your Self-Help Bookshelf

Every day, make it a point to consume inspirational material.

And, every day, set aside time to IMPLEMENT it.

This will require you to lower certain expectations.

What… what?

Mastin you just told me to raise my expectations.

I know – hear me out for a moment.

You must raise your expectations of yourself and lower your expectations of how much you can get done in a week or month.

Huh?

Lemme ‘splain.

There is a fatal by-product of “thinking big” that needs to be addressed.

This fatal by-product is the big thinking trap.

It goes like this:

1. I’m going to set a massive goal.

2. I start taking action.

3. But the goal is so far out of reach, I get frustrated and give up.

4. Then, I feel guilt and shame for giving up.

5. Then, I stop and go back to normal life.

6. But, I’m overwhelmed, stressed and feel out of place.

7. So, I go for the big goal again.

8. And the same thing happens.

9. I repeat this cycle until I finally resign myself that my dreams are impossible.

What’s the remedy for this maddening cycle?

Lower your expectations (in the short term).

Instead of going for a massive goal, go for a small win.

I actually look at my productivity and goal setting one week at a time.

I ask myself, “What’s one thing I can accomplish this week that will really move the needle forward?”

And, then I focus on that one thing.

This needs to be really practical.

Like:

– Publish my website.

– Post daily on social media.

– Actually… ask for help.

– Say, “I love you.”

– Say, “It’s over.”

– Finish the #1 item on your to-do list.

– Give notice at your job.

– Wake up at 5am.

– Don’t eat carbs at night.

– Walk for 30 min a day.

Just one thing.

What’s one thing you can do this week that moves the needle forward?

Ask yourself this question weekly and focus on that one thing, and you will be amazed how much momentum will be created – and fast.

Step 5 – Find Your Soul Tribe Here’s the deal – you cannot do this alone.

Who you spend time with is who you become.

You will embody the expectations of your peer group.

You mold your environment and then your environment molds you.

If you have a bunch of naysayers in your life (many who even Love you) – then you won’t create an abundant life.

It’s time to set new boundaries with anyone in your life who drains your energy.

It’s time to protect your confidence.

This is not easy. But it’s VITAL.

Then, find a group of people who will support you.

Many times, the group of people who will support you can be found through your Mentor.

When someone comes to a seminar or retreat or an online program with us – they get an instant Soul Tribe.

These are people who see who you are now.

Who believe in who you are becoming. When you find your Soul Tribe.

Don’t just take. Add value. Help others. Serve them.

The fastest way to get someone to help you is to help them first.

You need a squad. You need a Soul Tribe. No one is successful in a vacuum.

No one does it alone.

Cut the chords with negative people.

Send them Love.

And hang out with people who speak victory into your life.

And speak victory into theirs, too.

Step 6 – Be Patient & Make This A Lifestyle

Abundance is the reward of patience.

Lack is the result of impatience.

Your desire to live an abundant life is the precursor to that life happening.

But, young padawan, you must be patient.

It’s an oxymoron, actually.

Because you must be hungry for change.

And at the same thing, you must be patient in how it all happens.

Wayne Dyer said it best:

Infinite patience brings immediate results.

Do not worry that your time has passed by.

Do not worry that you are missing out.

Do not worry that it’s too late.

Do not fret over the idea that you “should” be somewhere else by now, or further along.

Make peace with your rate of progress.

Make peace with where you are right now.

Remember that everything happens in Divine time.

Even if you aren’t 100% sure of it, decide that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Dedicate your life to this path.

Stop seeking quick fixes, magic bullets and any get rich quick ideas.

Become a person of value.

Add value to others.

Dedicate your life to being a servant. To being of service.

Abundance flows to those who serve.

Humble yourself.

And, like water, abundance will flow down to you.

Do not turn God into a vending machine.

Recognize that you have been given this precious life.

You have been given the gift of a body you didn’t create, that is kept alive by a beating heart you did not create, you breathe air you did not create and are kept warm by a Sun you did not create.

Realize that you’re a miracle.

Realize that it’s a gift to become the person it takes to create abundance.

See everything in your life as something that is FOR YOU, not against you.

Remember that you never walk alone.

Know that every setback is a lesson you must learn.

Decide that abundance is who you are.

Be hungry to make it happen, and don’t be in a rush for how long it takes to happen.

Just show up every day with a renewed spirit, a curious mind, and an open heart.

Decide – RIGHT NOW – in this moment to BURN THE BOATS and see how creative and resourceful you really are.

At this moment, whether you see it or not, everything you need is at your fingertips.

Don’t ask for the world to change, decide to change how you see the world.

Resources are there, right now. Look for them.

And know this: GRATITUDE is the bedrock of an abundant life.

When you focus on what you’re grateful for, you will be given more to be grateful for.

Now – this is your CALL TO ABUNDANCE, take ACTION NOW:

Reply to this email and let me know:

(HINT: if you find yourself saying… “I don’t know” – then… STILL answer these questions and imagine I asked you: “I know you don’t know, but if you did know what would you say?” Saying you “don’t know” or any derivative of this statement must be banned from your vocabulary.)

1. How will you finally get hungry burn the boats today?

2. Who is your mentor going to be? How can you find the resources to make it happen?

3. Who or what are you ready to stop blaming? And how will you take responsibility for your life from now on?

4. What is one step you can take this week to move the needle?

5. What negative influences are you letting go of, now? And, where will you find your Soul Tribe?

6. What can you be patient with today? How is what’s happening right now all in Divine order?

I am looking forward to reading your response.

You’ve got this, Kerry. I’m so proud of you.

May you live long, and prosper.

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!

How To Create A Rock Solid Abundance Mindset

If you’re like me, then there is a part of you that knows on a deep level that you are an Infinite Soul contained in a temporary human body.

That means that who you are is Infinite.

And it can be so frustrated to be constrained by the limits of the physical world.

When I was couch surfing (for two years), I used to hear teachers like Wayne Dyer talk about abundance and get so confused.

If abundance is the natural state of the Universe, why am I not experiencing it?

When you are in that state of lack, life closes down.

Your stress limits the options you see.

You miss out on playing a bigger game.

Resources tend to run from you.

And, you don’t live your unique purpose.

Lack is an internal emotional state of being, it’s not the nature of the Universe.

When you step away from lack and open up into greater possibility, that is when everything changes for the better.

But how do you do it? How to make the leap from lack to plenty?

One answer:

Cultivate A Rock Solid Abundance Mindset

Here’s Seven Steps to take to do it:

1. Live for today.

Make peace with the past and do not fear the future. Cultivate a present moment mindset and see that all your needs are met. The best way to create a bright future is to bring all you focus, love, enthusiasm and energy to doing your best TODAY.

2. Be of service, now.

There are an infinite number of ways for you to help someone else. Reach out and do it. Don’t wait to impact others, find someone, anyone to help now. Remember, life supports what supports life.

3. Open up and receive.

Many times we don’t get what we desire because we are sending the Universe mixed signals. Part of us is saying, “come here” and another part is saying “go away”. Remove any blocks you have to receive and let in all that love that you so freely give to others. You’re worth it.

4. Turn statements of limits into questions of possibility.

Instead of proclaiming, “I can’t start my business”, “I’ll never find love” or “lose the weight” or “I don’t have enough time/money/whatever”. Turn those statements into QUESTIONS. How can I start my business, now? What is the most effective way to find love? How can I create enough time/money/etc?When you change the question you change the answer. When you change the answer, you change your life.

5. Take daily CIA.

You are in the CIA now baby. Courageous. Imperfect. Action.Be scared every day. Do it while make lots of mistakes to learn from. And turn this philosophy into action. Scary, mistake laiden action. You will be happy you did.

6. Burn The Freakin’ Boats Baby!

Make a decision you can’t come back from. Part of the reason you are procrastinating is because you haven’t made a real decision. Why haven’t your circumstances changed? Truth: because a part of you likes them how they are… and is comfortable with the status quo. Crush the status quo by making a decision you can’t come back from.Burn the boats baby!

7. Know that you are always guided

This is a receipe to shake things up. And it can be scary. Tune into your Higher Power. Know that you are guided. See that everything is happening FOR you and not TO you. Ask, “What’s the spiritual lesson in this?” then get still and listen. Then turn that answer into action. If you want to see how much faith you really have, look at the action you’re taking, not your vision board.

It’s time to ACT:

How are you going to apply today’s lessons and cultivate an abundance mindset?

Remember to get out there, take action and make it real!
